I'm counting it, for obvious reasons.

Success!

You will all be happy to know that our camera came successfully, with no obvious signs of prior use and instructions in English. The free, "worth $149.99" camera bag and kit that cost $20 to mail was a rip off, but we're not complaining (too much) because at least we got our camera. However, we can't figure out why it is making Dustin's eyes and lips look like this:

The Continuing Saga

Well, we have a camera on the way (I think). We should, unless Leo decides that he doesn't want to send it to us. Leo is one of the people at The New Connection, an online company where we bought (?) our new camera from. Originally we were going to buy it from RC Willey, but if we bought it through this company we could save $40. So, we ordered it on Thursday night. By Friday morning Leo had called to try and sell us a couple of really expensive batteries with our camera. Weird, I thought, that they'd call us at home. Then by Friday afternoon Leo called to inform us that we had to fill out a credit verification online in order for them to send our camera. "This seems like a lot of work just to order something online," I say to Leo (I was a little hungry and thus maybe slightly irritated). "Well if Dustin wants to cancel it he has to call me," says Leo. So I look at their credit verification that they emailed us and suddenly our price has jumped up $20. Hmmm. So Dustin and I decide to look up some reviews on this company. Oh, boy. Now, I graduated in Psychology, so I know that generally, the only people who will take time to review are those who either loved the service, or hated it. But all 7 reviews that we saw went something like this:
"DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS COMPANY!!!!!! This is the biggest scam we have ever seen. We got used products. They won't let you return the products without paying a fee. They are horrible to work with. They kept trying to sell me crap I didn't need..."
We tried to contact them on their "call anytime" number and got a message to call during normal business hours. I tried to decline the credit agreement they sent, and wouldn't you know it, it wouldn't let me. We tried to stop the transaction with our credit card company, but couldn't. They said that the transaction was "pending." Dustin called the next day again and got someone who said it had already been shipped (even though I didn't accept their credit agreement) and that, "Oh, the extra money is shipping on the free camera bag kit that you are getting." Oh. OK then. So everyone say a little prayer that 1) We will indeed get our camera 2) We won't continue to get charges on our credit card 3) We will learn to review companies before we give them our credit card number 4) Carolyn's kids will all sleep through the night anytime in the next 10 years (I just threw that one in so I could get some extra prayers).
