I may be back to my old ways. It has been a while since I posted. I think life just keeps moving on and I get busy doing... well nothing too amazing, really. But, just to prove that we are all alive and kicking, here is what we've been doing lately:
Ryan is walking all over now and has recently discovered two new loves, the garbage can and any writing utensil. I found him eating an old banana peel the other day and later coloring on my walls with red pencil. Oh, but he was so happy! And he says a few new words: na (for no), na na (for shoes, or anything else he wants put on his feet), and na na na (for I don't want any more food, thank you).
The girls got Tinker Bell makeup in the mail from Gramma Lana, which they absolutely love and wear daily, especially right before bedtime because Maren keeps it in a special spot near her bed to remind her. We are so beautiful while we are asleep now!
.
We bought some Blue Bonnet Margarine Spread in a tub. I used to think that my Grandma's butter tasted rancid because it was (bless her heart). Now I realize that it tasted rancid because it was Blue Bonnet. I guess everything isn't better with Blue Bonnet onnet.
No, Dustin has not finished his thesis yet, but he estimates being only 5 hours away. I estimate that those 5 hours will take 500 (not through any fault of his, really). But don't worry, he has stuck faithfully to his no chip diet for 4 months now and it is saving us loads on our grocery bill.
I made some yummy Sesame Chicken with a recipe I got from the fantastic Beka, which I will include now. And with the way I have been feeling about cooking lately, that actually is an amazing feat.
Sesame Chicken
4 chicken breasts canola oil 1/4 C. sugar
2 T. oyster sauce 2 T. cornstarch sesame seeds
1/2 C. cornstarch 1 1/3 C. water 2 T. soy sauce
1/2 t. garlic powder 1 1/2 C. broccoli, cut in chunks
1. Cut chicken into 1 inch pieces. Put 1/2 C. cornstarch in plastic bag and toss in bag until well coated. Add enough canola oil into your skillet to generously coat bottom.
2. Fry chicken until med-brown. While frying, prepare sauce by mixing in saucepan-water, sugar, soy sauce, oyster sauce, garlic powder and 2 T. cornstarch. Stir mixture over med. heat until thickened and pour over chicken. Simmer 3 minutes. Add prepared broccoli and steam until desired tenderness. Stir in sesame seeds and serve over rice.
There you have it. I hope everyone else is as blissfully boring as we are right now!

Glad to hear you guys are doing well, we need to get together again!
It is quite boring right now - we had too much excitement over the spring and summer, I guess. Must be time for someone to travel again. Love ya!
I miss you! Life looks so fun, I wish I could come visit right now. Hey why don't you come out here for Thanksgiving?! Come on, it's the excitement you need!
Thanks for the tip about Blue Bonnet! We use Smart Start in the tub because it's "healthy butter." Doesn't taste *too* rancid. :)
We're having a boring fall too, just giving us time to get ready for the fun holidays that start with Halloween and go through New Year's, and the constant illness to follow in January, February and March.
Miss you guys and wish I could see Ryan writing on the walls and the girls' pretty makeup.
We use Parkay spray butter, and then have Blue Bonnet light in the tub as a back up. So my children think everything is better with blue bonnet on it. Because they know no different.
Everyday brings a new adventure at our house some I could blog about and others it is best I don't. I'm sure your house isn't boring either. It just seems that way after summer adventures...
Kate & Avery keep their special treasures and makeup next to their beds as well, they have both gotten in trouble for doing lipgloss instead of jammies, wish we lived closer, our kids would get along great!
So I attempted to save a buck by using margarine while cooking for the school cake walk, yeah, not such a good idea! The frosting was melting/seperating in the bowl. Yuck! and yes, I should know by now that you can't make frosting with margarine, but really, I never use the stuff.. PS I avoided the Blue Bonnet per your suggestion.
