Lots of Birthday Fun With Family

Summer time is birthday time for our family.  We took care of Maren's party, and a few days later, it was Gramma Lana's birthday.  We had a (gluten free) cake that was better than almost anything.  I'm not bragging.  That's actually what Betty Crocker calls it.  I've heard it called by other names, too...  You'll notice the absence of Avery in these pictures.  She was in Manti, at Youth Conference.
The next day it was off to Delta for Grandma Losee's 90th birthday celebration.  Grandma makes 90 look beautiful, and it was so much fun to see family that we rarely see.

Grandma got overwhelmed with all of her posterity singing to her.  The sound of our voices occasionally brings people to tears.
It was Deseret, Utah, so there were horses next to the church parking lot.
Long lost cousins.  These were my best friends, all growing up.  We made a lot of mischief together.  It was fun.
Out at Grandma's farm, after the party.  Nicole and Matt were here, in between Boston and moving to California.  We had a fun time with their little family.

A couple of days later it was Avery's 14th birthday, and Nicole and Matt came up just in time for lunch at one of our favorite little cafe's near our house.

Mmmmm.  Whole wheat pancakes with granola.  So delicious!
Her party that night with all of the local family.  She almost blew her candles out!!  She's growing up so fast...  (that was a sarcastic, if you couldn't read it in my writing.  Avery is TERRIBLE at blowing out candles!  We don't know why this is so.  She is a very talented girl in so many other ways.  Somehow, she missed the "candle blowing out" gene.  But she is improving after 14 years.)

A pillow as tall as she is.

Avery is growing up and maturing, right before our eyes.  She is beautiful, fun, loves to laugh and loves to sing and play the piano.  She is also very good at the violin.  She is highly motivated to get things done.  She just finished as the Beehive President, and she was very thoughtful of the girls in her class and what they might need.  We love her and are thankful for her!!
The kids loved the cousin time.  They had a serious dress up party, on the day of Avery's birthday.

Playing at Lodestone park with cousins.

A random picture of Maren sleeping with her cool cat eye shield.
 Snow cones with the Craguns.

We had an epic water fight with the kids.  Any time we can get the dad's involved, it up's the fun factor by a lot.
In between family visiting, Grant had his first scout camp.

And then we visited my grandpa at the Farm, with Nicole and Matt, for a couple of days.

We did a really great hike called Box Canyon.  It was hot!  But worth it.

There was a lot of dune buggying and tractor riding going on.

And raspberry picking, first thing in the morning.  Oh, I love fresh raspberries from the farm!

We came home, while Nicole and Matt went on to California and their new home.  We got home just in time for Dustin's family to come in town, and for Ryan to have his Scout Camp.  On the second day, Dustin got to go help, which was fun for them both.
