Easter Weekend and a Funeral

My grandpa passed away a couple of weeks ago.  His funeral was the Saturday before Easter.  He was such a great man, perfectly blending two families and being an amazing father and example to my dad.  I will be forever grateful to him, as will the rest of my family, I'm sure.  The funeral was really nice, lots of fun and funny memories of Grandpa (he could whistle 7 different ways!).  The graveside service was very touching.  Because he served in World War II, they did the shooting of the gun thing (which sent Grant and a few other little ones into hysterics), playing of taps and they also presented my grandma with the flag.  Not only was my grandpa a farmer (farming until he was 86), he was also a fireman for 20 years, so the fire department rang the bell in memory of those who won't be returning home.  I stole some of these pictures from my cousin (thanks, Kathy!).

Before the funeral, we wandered around the farm with the kids and had fun with the old farm machinery.

And then almost everyone was still around for Easter Sunday.  The Easter bunny brought us each a basket and a few eggs.  And that evening we had dinner together at my sister's.

What a great weekend to be reminded of the wonderful gift of the Atonement, the Resurrection of our Savior, and the hope of eternal life with those we love!

Rude. I flew all the way from Champaign, the least you could have done was post a picture of me on your blog.

Could you send me one to post? Somehow I have nothing of you and little Finny. And it did make me sad. I at least got chad standing by the casket.

I'm so glad we had such great photos from the cousins. Mine are pretty lousy for the most part. Love the pictures from the farm :)
