Rest And Relaxation

Remember how I was going to have two whole weeks of nothing going on?  Well, it has come to an end.  Here are some of the things that we did:
We had breakfast in bed!  One Sunday morning, our kids all got up way too early, so we sent them to run free through the house.  A little while later, we woke up to our kids bringing us pancakes with strawberry jam and whipped cream.  Avery found a recipe and mixed and cooked the pancakes all by herself!  Then the kids worked together to prepare them and make it look pretty.  I was very impressed.
This is a hummingbird's nest in our carport.  It is so tiny!  It is probably only a couple of inches tall.  At first, we weren't even sure if there were eggs in it.  But soon we could see little black beaks peaking out over the top.  Then a few days later we could see their heads and then within a few more days they were little birds, sitting on top of the nest because they couldn't fit in it!  It all happened so fast!  Now they are gone, but we had a lot of fun watching them.
And this is how we have been relaxing for the last week.  We have pneumonia.  The only person missing from the picture is me.  Yep, I have it too.  Grant got it first, then Avery and now me.  Maren and Ryan don't have it yet and we are hoping and praying that their colds will stay as colds and be gone in time for school to start on Tuesday.  It was not really the way I had hoped to spend our last week of summer.  The doctors said that this usually doesn't happen, that it is rare to have all of us get it.  We are so excited that we could be such a rarity.

Look at it this way -- because you are a "rarity", you may make the medical journals. Hope Avery had a good "first day of school". Sorry that Maren & Ryan had to miss out. Love ya!

Very impressive that Avery made the pancakes by herself - how were they?

The hummingbird nest is pretty cool too - although not as cool as the rat video. :)

Sorry to hear about the pnemonia - was it pretty serious? Hope everyone is well soon! I hate being sick any time, but especially in nice weather!
