Dustin's Grandpa Wiberg passed away on Christmas morning. This was a little of a shock to us, although it really shouldn't have been. He was 95 years old! But he had lived such a healthy, active life, it was hard for us to imagine he would ever not be with us.
This was when we were in school at USU.
We lived with Grandpa for our first year of grad school in Logan. He was 86 at the time. He faithfully home taught 10 people (most of them widows). That year was a terrible year for snow in Logan. Grandpa would wake up very early and go shovel walks all over the neighborhood every time it snowed. After we moved out from his house, we still regularly had family home evenings with him, either at our apartment or at his house. For years he has gone to the temple every morning for the 6:00 session. Every. Morning. He had a strong testimony of temple work. He called every member of his family on their birthday to sing "Happy Birthday To You". That is around 177 people, folks.
Grandpa served in World War II and the Korean War. It was not uncommon for us to run into people that served with him (or a family member of theirs did), and they would tell us (sometimes emotionally) how great he was to serve with in the army. He was a pretty amazing man. I really grew to love him like my own grandfather!
And since Dustin's family was staying with us for a few days (17 people in our little house!), we turned it into a party!
A birthday party, that is. Briana turned 17 while they were here.
I think that is Ryan and Abram in there. But I can't be certain...
Cute Briana again.
Cute Jenny.
Ryan and Abram doing a secret handshake, with everyone watching.
All 17 of us! We are smiling, but we were really freezing. It was bitterly cold the night we went to Temple Square.
We had a fun New Year's Eve Party with tons of food, a trip to the Planetarium and games until midnight. We had such a great time with Dustin's siblings!

177 birthday calls! 10 Home teachees! What an amazing man!! How wonderful that you and Dustin and your kids were able to spend so much time with him in his later years and really know him. I'm sure you guys will miss him.
Looks like fun? I don't know if you can say that or not about a funeral. Sorry about Grandpa Wiberg- makes me want to try harder with our own grandparents and not just think about what I should do.
