Fall Break and Dustin's Birthday

The last couple of weeks have been filled with family and fun.  We started out with Avery's Region Cross Country meet.  She finished strong and we are proud of how hard she has worked this year in Cross Country!

Dustin's aunt Shaunie came to visit and we got to have a fun dinner with her and other family members.  Anything cute you see in the following pictures was made by Shaunie!

Dustin's actual birthday was a couple of days later.  The night before, we came home from running errands to find this on our front porch.  A secret Birthday Fairy left him treats in the bags.
On his birthday we went to dinner and then the kids had a few gifts for him to open.  This year, we decided that he and I will both renew our passports for our birthday gift.  That way, someday soon, we can take that spontaneous trip to Italy that we keep wanting to do.  I'm sure passports are the only thing holding us back...

That same week was also Fall Break for our kids, so we made a quick trip to Denver to spend time with family there. The weather was beautiful and we did a lot of fun things!  The older 3 kids and Dustin and his dad all did baptisms for the dead at the Denver temple.  Grant and I wandered the grounds and wandered the Dollar Store while we waited for them.

The kids spent a lot of time playing on the trail behind Dustin's dad's house.  They found treasures in the creek and played in the mud and had to be hosed off before they could come inside.  Grandpa enjoyed his job.

The next day we went to a Corn Maze with the Braithwaite's.  They also had this willow sculpture to play around in, plus hay rides, barrel train rides and corn removal (from the cob--strangely satisfying).

This is how he feels sometimes.

That day we also went to what Dustin calls the "Hat Park".  The hat slide was enjoyed by all, and Emma finally did get up the nerve to go down that middle slide.  But she sat up there for a long time.

The next morning we packed up and started on our journey home, with a quick stop at Aunt Shaunie's new home for a tour.  It was a great trip and fun to see family!
