Last week was just our new normal for a week during the Quarantine. We set up a tent, we utilized a huge roll of toilet paper our neighbor gave us, we probably made and ate a lot of yummy food. Until Thursday. Thursday began a 3 day Scavenger Hunt Extraordinaire, put on by a family in our town. There were 528 missions to accomplish (a couple hundred were added per day), and each mission was worth a certain number of points (between 200 and 1,000). The missions varied in difficulty and the idea was that we were doing this as a family, so some things had to be done by our entire team. There will be a picture overload below to show some of the missions that we accomplished. They were usually submitted by picture or video through an app called GooseChase, so it was really easy to play along. That previously set up tent came in handy because we used that for a number of missions. There were so many things to accomplish that it became all consuming, especially by Saturday morning. Our kids even pulled an all-nighter on Friday night to watch 3 Disney movies in a row (Maren was the only one who actually made it all night, but the others were close). The Scavenger Hunt ended on Saturday night at 10:00, and by 8:30 P.M. we had about 10 missions left and 1/2 of the family that was ready to quit. At that point though, we were committed (heck, we were committed at 7:00 A.M. when Maren finished her movies and went to bed). We told the kids, "The fun is over, now we are just finishing this!" Ha ha! No more fun. Only a job to be done. We finished around 9:30 P.M. and our finish involved illegally being on a park playground so that we could get a picture of a spiral staircase, driving slowly through an apartment parking lot looking for an Oregon license plate and then shining a flashlight on it while we took a picture (we were sure we were going to get the police called on us), and watching an old episode of Silver Spoons in fast speed on YouTube, which makes the talking off sync. And that was just the last hour! What a fun three days of silly tasks! And in the end we finished all the tasks, which put us (and everyone who finished) in first place. Then the Scavenger Hunt people reviewed all of our tasks and threw out any that weren't done completely correctly, which was a huge undertaking for them. We got a call last night from the family, and we ended up in 1st place out of more than a thousand teams!! Woohoo! We were very excited. We got to choose our prize and the kids chose a new Nintendo Switch. So fun!
One task: wearing a poofy dress and spinning around in it. My wedding dress is the poofiest dress we own and once we got it out, we all had to try it on.
Everyone reading at the same time.
Recreating the Beatles album cover.
A street sign that meant something to us. (Dustin is a tree man)
Eat a hamburger and have an indoor picnic. Killed two birds with one stone!

We seriously made and ate sooo much food during those three days!

This had nothing to do with the Scavenger Hunt, but we finally sang Happy Birthday to Grant!
We held Prom. Avery went with her dad. This was at midnight on Friday night!

Recreating the Titanic scene.
A selfie of a selfie?
A clean room!
So many recreations of famous things! There were a lot of challenges that involved kissing. Luckily, we like to kiss.
This was at 5:30 in the morning when I went down to check on the kids. Maren was a trooper!
26 layers of shirts!
Eating the Utah state food: a sweet onion.
Twins.
Science project.
Doing a Bob Ross tutorial.
Dustin also took one for the team when he ran a mile on Saturday afternoon.
Yoga.
Some not so successful bubbles for a bubble blowing contest.
This was when we hit the 11th hour, and our kids were very done and didn't want to take a walk to find something cool in our neighborhood. Too bad! They had to come!
Doing service.
Modern art.
All my spices had to be counted.
We all had to be in the air at the same time. No problem.
Ahh, the spiral staircase. We had been looking for a spiral staircase for 3 days at this point and it was our second to last task to complete, so we were willing to break the law to get this picture.
There were so many funny ones that we only have on video, like the whole family doing Jazzercise, or showing off our ugliest Quarantine clothes, or telling the entire Lord of the Rings plot in 15 seconds or less, or singing campfire songs, or recreating the Sound of Music, or Hula dancing, or square dancing, or hip hop dancing! The last task was the Oregon license plate, which we found shortly after this. Yay!! We finished them all! And (almost totally) had fun in the process! And we won a Nintendo Switch and bragging rights! So cool!
