Summer Field Trips

Now that we are fully back in to school, our lives are filled up with appointments, homework, lessons and studying.  And we are very busy with that.  So, I thought tonight I would reflect on a few months ago, when we had none of that, and instead had appointments to tour mansions, baseball fields or candy factories.  Ahh, the good ol' days of Summer.  Every year I plan Summer neighborhood field trips.  I call them Tuesday Treks, and anyone is invited.  We do them every Tuesday (surprise surprise), and it is a good way for me to have at least one fun thing a week planned for my kids.  We had some different, fun field trips planned for this year, like a tour of the Governer's Mansion, the Bee's Stadium, a movie, the Planetarium, a tour of a chocolate factory, a pioneer museum and a visit to a farm.  The kids have fun, and here is a little secret, I try to plan things that I would enjoy, too!  Like anything involving free chocolate samples!
The chocolate factory.
They let us get awfully close to that chocolate...
Our favorite part is always the tasting part.
Wheeler Farm.  On a hot summer day, the only respite is in the outhouse.

The Planetarium, making tornadoes.

This is my favorite display at the Planetarium.  It has something to do with light and heat or cold, or something...  Maybe this is why it is my favorite.  It is like brand new information every time I see it!
Governor's Mansion--no photos allowed inside!  Dustin took a break from work and ran across the street to join us.  That was a bonus.

Daughters of the Utah Pioneers Museum.  Also, no photos allowed inside! (Oops.  This is right inside the front door, with the museum ladies right there watching.  I saw the sign later...)
Bee's Stadium

And there is the end of a summer of field tripping!  Now we get to have school field tripping!
